CATALPA AVE PLAZA IMPROVEMENTS

The Catalpa Avenue Plaza project transformed a section of Catalpa Avenue into a pedestrian-oriented public plaza designed to enhance walkability, community gathering, and neighborhood identity. Completed in coordination with the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT), the project converted the corridor into a safer and more inviting public space for residents and visitors. Key improvements included decorative concrete paving, raised landscape planters with native plantings, shade structures, pedestrian lighting, custom seating areas, bike racks, and upgraded streetscape furnishings. The project also incorporated landscaped screening elements, enhanced public gathering spaces, and specialty lighting features that created a vibrant community destination while supporting local businesses and neighborhood events.
