CHICAGO AVE STREETSCAPE, SECTION – 2

The Chicago Avenue Improvements – Section 2 project was designed to revitalize the corridor while celebrating the neighborhood’s historic “Soul City” identity and cultural legacy. Completed in coordination with the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT), the project combined critical infrastructure improvements with community-focused streetscape enhancements that reflect the area’s rich history of music, art, business, and cultural influence within Chicago. Improvements along the corridor included roadway resurfacing, widened sidewalks, ADA-compliant pedestrian ramps, decorative lighting, enhanced crosswalks, landscaped parkways, and upgraded streetscape furnishings. The project also incorporated design elements and public space enhancements intended to strengthen neighborhood identity, improve pedestrian accessibility, support local businesses, and create a safer, more vibrant streetscape environment that honors the spirit and character of the surrounding community.
